Tensions escalated when Brisbane goalkeeper Michael Theo was sent-off late under controversial circumstances and Sergio Cirio scored the winning penalty for the Reds in a 2-1 result.

An altercation in the tunnel immediately after the conclusion of the match between assistant coaches – Aloisi and Adelaide's Jacobo Ramallo - was described as a "physical confrontation" by Fox Sports.

In a statement the Match Review Panel said: “Craig Moore (Football Director) has been cited for alleged comments made towards Match Officials. Ross Aloisi has been cited for an alleged incident with an opposition coach in the tunnel.

“Both incidents occurred immediately after the conclusion of Brisbane Roar FC’s Hyundai A-League Round 23 match against Adelaide United on Sunday, 19 March 2017.

“Craig Moore and Ross Aloisi have an opportunity to provide a submission by 5pm (AEDT) on Wednesday, 22 March 2017.

“The sanctions applicable for a breach of the FFA National Code of Conduct include a reprimand, a fine and/or suspension from participation in a match or matches.”

Roar released a brief statement on Monday afternoon, saying they were aware of the show cause notices and that the club would “fully co-operate with all ongoing investigations”.

Meanwhile, Roar has until midday on Tuesday to decide if it will appeal Theo’s ban. The veteran custodian lashed out at Dylan McGowan with his elbow leading to his send-off in the 96th minute.

The MRP determined that the goalkeeper had  committed the offence of “Assault on a Player (violent conduct when challenging for the ball) including an attempted Assault on a Player”.

The MRP proposed the mandatory one match suspension plus an additional match.
