Burnley, relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season, continued their blistering start to the English second-tier Championship season by crushing Cardiff 5-0 at Turf Moor.

A week after they saw off Luton 4-1, the Clarets' opening home game saw them deliver another free-scoring display following an early Ethan Horvath own goal.  

Luca Koleosho made it 2-0, before Josh Brownhill, Zeki Amdouni and Johann Berg Gudmundsson completed the rout against the Bluebirds, for whom young Socceroo Alexander Robertson was left on the bench.

Head coach Wayne Rooney claimed his first Championship point as Plymouth boss as the Devon side drew 1-1 with Hull. Ibrahim Cissoko fired the former England and Manchester United striker's side ahead, only for Lewis Coyle to claim a second-half equaliser. 

QPR fought back from two goals down to secure a 2-2 draw at Socceroo Harry Souttar's Sheffield United after Gustavo Hamer and Kieffer Moore put the home side clear before Jimmy Dunne and Lyndon Dykes struck for the visitors, who had Jack Colback sent off at 2-1 down. 

Souttar was a second-half substitute for the Blades.

Luton collected their first point of the Championship season after last season's relegation from the Premier League, despite having goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski sent off during the first half in a 0-0 draw at Portsmouth, who featured Australia forward Samuel Silvera.

Watford also made it two wins from two as they saw off Stoke 3-0 at Vicarage Road thanks to Edo Kayembe's double either side of a Ryan Andrews goal. 

Derby goalkeeper Josh Vickers made a string of fine saves to underpin a 1-0 victory against Middlesbrough at Pride Park, Kayden Jackson's 14th-minute goal proving the difference. 

Leeds' winless start to the new season continued with a goalless draw against West Brom at the Hawthorns, but there was a seven-goal thriller at Ashton Gate, where Bristol City defeated Millwall 4-3. 

Summer signing Yuki Ohashi came off the bench to grab a dramatic late equaliser as Blackburn snatched a battling 2-2 draw at Norwich, heading home in the 87th minute. 

Managerless Preston were brushed aside 3-0 by Swansea in south Wales, with a Matt Grimes penalty sending the Swans on their way before further goals from Azeem Abdulai and Zan Vipotnik.
