Yazbek, who made his Socceroos debut against Lebanon in April, has barely put a foot wrong since joining Viking FK from Sydney FC 16 months ago, hence the interest from the two-time MLS champions.

A member of Australia’s squad at the Asian Cup, he’s beginning to win the trust of national team boss Graham Arnold and looks set to be the sole US-based Socceroo when the 2026 World Cup - co-hosted by America, Canada and Mexico - kicks off.

Yazbek, 22, made 28 appearances in an impressive debut campaign for the Norwegian giant, and has added a further 12 so far this season, the most recent of which came earlier this month in the 2-2 draw with Molde.

If negotiations are successful, he will imminently join a Sporting Kansas side lagging second last in the Western Conference ladder with just 14 points from 18 games, just three in front of bottom placed San Jose.
