FTBL understands that Hibs - unbeaten in their last five games under ex-Central Mariners miracle worker Nick Montgomery - are keen to bring Toure, 18, to the Scottish capital during the January transfer window.

Montgomery became aware of Toure’s promise during his time in Gosford, and hopes to add him to a squad already featuring A-League alumni Lewis Miller and James Jeggo, plus Socceroos winger Martin Boyle.

Toure, younger brother of Paris FC’s Mohamed and Turkey-based Al Hassan, is a hybrid of both, and is highly-rated by Reds coach Carl Veart.

Off contract at season’s end, and determined to try his hand overseas, Toure has made six appearances this season, all off the bench, the most recent a 10-minute cameo in the 4-3 weekend loss to Macarthur Bulls.

He’s scored once in 133 minutes to date in 2023-2024, and whilst Veart is studiously limiting his game time, it’s believed Hibs view the unpredictable and pacy front-runner as a likely starter in the Scottish Premiership at a club which sits fifth on the ladder going into the overnight trip to league leaders Celtic.

Traditionally players coming off contract command minimal transfer fees - the $2 million plus add-ons the Reds received for Nestory Irankunda from Bayern Munich proving an exception.

If Adelaide were to release Toure in January they would likely receive only a fraction of that figure.

Toure’s agent, former Melbourne Victory legend Fahid Ben Khalfallah declined to comment when contacted by FTBL.
