Knights looked the better side in torrential rain in front of 1864 fans and had the opening chance after just 10 minutes when Jason Hicks took a shot from long range which went wide.

Minutes later Aden Da Luz had an opportunity to place Cockburn in front but his low cross evaded everyone.

At the 22nd minute the Knights found themselves 1-0 in front when a sizzling Nick Glavan cross managed to find Jacob Colosimo who knocked it home.

Six minutes later the Knights almost had a two goal lead as Hicks elected to shoot from 25 metres out, but was parried out for a corner unconvincingly by Luke Radonich.

Knights looked as if they would lead at half-time, however before the whistle blew Angel Andres’ ball into the box allowed David Araya to tap it in the six yard box.

Four minutes into the second half, Knights continued to try and regain the lead, Hicks’ chip on Radonich went just wide of the Cockburn goal.

Stipo Andrijasevic should have put the Knights at the 66th minute, however Radonich was able to beat it away from close range.

It didn’t matter as minutes later, Stipo managed to put the Knight’s back up 2-1 with Radonich getting hand on the ball, but wasn’t enough.

After 90 minutes in stormy conditions the home side managed to contain Cockburn to book a place into the next phase of the FFA Cup with Stipo, Hicks and captain Milan Batur starring for the Knights.

The Knights will now face Green Gully in the next knockout stage.
