Scotland-born Boyle, who turned 31 in April, has made no secret of his desire to place an exclamation mark on his career in Australia, a country he had never set foot in prior to making his Australia debut back in 2018.

He’s developed an avid taste for his adopted nation since, stating back in 2021 his desire to play in the A-League before competing a 14-year football journey which has seen him feature only once in a league outside Scotland, a brief spell for Saudi side Al Faisaly.

“That's always been a part of my plan. I've committed to Hibernian for the next two-to-three seasons but I'm not getting any younger and I'd really like to experience playing over there," Boyle said while on Socceroos duty.

"Hopefully one day in the future I can come out there and represent one of the clubs out there."
FTBL understands that Boyle, now effectively a free agent, is currently in ongoing discussions with City officials, having rejected their initial offer.

Glory, also looking to rebuild and reboot after a season of under achievement, are also keen to snare Boyle, who qualified for Australia through his Sydney-born father.

With eight goals in 28 appearances for the Socceroos, Boyle - despite suffering a series of injury setbacks which have limited his green and gold opportunities, remains an integral part of Graham Arnold’s squad.

Still quick and slick, he bagged a brace  for Hibernian in last week’s 3-0 win over Motherwell and will line up tonight for the Hibernian side which last week sacked former Central Coast Mariners coach Nick Montgomery in their final Scottish Premiership game of the season against relegated Livingston.

In his second spell with the Edinburgh club, Boyle has made nearby 250 appearances across 10 seasons, scoring an impressive 57 goals.
