O’Neill, 29, joined the Jets two seasons ago and has accrued 38 A-League appearances since switching to the Hunter from hometown team Perth.

However, it’s understood he’s become increasingly unsettled, and has agreed terms on a move back to Western Australia for next season.

The collapse of the proposed takeover of the Jets by the Aussie-led FC32 football investment group has fermented doubt surrounding the club’s viability beyond this season, focusing the minds of players and staff on a 'where to next' strategy should the Jets ultimately go under.

It will be O’Neill’s third coming with the Glory - where he began his career before stints at Sydney FC, Pohang Steelers and Thai outfit Buriram United, a second stop at Perth and finally the Jets.

Mauragis, meanwhile, has agreed a two-year deal with the Mariners to soften the blow of initially  missing out on Tony Vidmar’s Olyroos squad for the looming U-23 AFC Asian Cup in Qatar.

However, with Polish club Lechia Gdansk pulling the rug from under Louis D'Arrigo's participation in the tournament, Vidmar on Tuesday turned to Mauragis to fill the void.

With his departure assured and a flight to Doha booked, Mauragis may well have played his final game for the club, coach Robbie Stanton preferring Daniel Wilmering for the last two games, a goalless draw at Melbourne City and 3-1 upset victory over 10-man Sydney FC.

Having risen through the ranks, Mauragis is in his second spell with the Jets, sandwiched by a season on the books of Wellington Phoenix, and will be a significant loss to the side he has made 22 appearances for this season.

Another at the exit door is the highly rated Pradonovic, who only arrived in July after an impressive spell in charge of NPL side Sutherland Sharks.

It’s understood Pradonovic, who also previously headed up his own youth academy in Sydney, has struggled with the low remuneration on offer at the Jets - his first foray into the senior A-League arena - and has decided to search for options elsewhere.
