Exclusive: Tony Pignata is to leave his role as CEO of Sydney FC, FourFourTwo understands.
It is believed Pignata is leaving the new A-League champions to return to Melbourne to be with his family. Pignata and the club had not replied to FourFourTwo at the time of writing.
The administrator joined the Sky Blues in 2012 after stints as the chief executive of Wellington Phoenix and Football Federation Victoria.
Under Pignata's leadership Sydney FC signed Italian legend Alessandro Del Piero. The club has also turned its finances around and increased sponsorships.
It is believed Pignata's departure could be announced this week with his next job unknown.
