Australia took on Korea in their Group C tournament opener at the Patriot Chandrabhaga Stadium.

The Koreans looked to have a vital victory sewn up in Indonesia, until Melbourne City midfielder Najjarine's 89th minute-pearler.

In the first half Apostolos Stamatelopoulos had a shout for a penalty waved away by the referee.

In the second half Korea took the lead in the 52nd minute when Jeon Se-Jin tapped in a cross.

They almost went 2-0 up soon after but their shot struck a post.

Then with one minute left Najjarine, who had been on the field for just 13 minutes, turned hero with the vital goal.

Najjarine cut inside to beat his man and then fired in a beautiful strike from the edge of the box to salvage a point.

The point keeps the Young Socceroos' hopes of getting out of the group alive.

They face Vietnam in their next match on Monday before tackling Jordan on Thursday.

The Young Socceroos have to reach the semi-finals of the tournament to book a place at next year's FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Poland.
