Wanderers expect to make a formal announcement before the end of the month, Bosnar revealed, as the board and football department weigh the merits of the various candidates which also includes an Italian, a German and three home grown coaches headed by Tony Popovic.

Sources in the Netherlands suggest the Dutch option is a serious one, with Bosnar telling FTBL: “We have a list of six - three local and three abroad - we’re looking everywhere because it’s a big decision for the club.

“This is a club that needs to win trophies, it’s about discipline and winning and we’re determined to get the right fit for that.

Bosnar said that Popovic, who may have options in Croatia and Japan after quitting Melbourne Victory on Wednesday, is also “of interest”, adding: “Of course he is. But it’s a long process and a lot of things have to happen for anything to be approved.

“There’s a lot of work happening behind the scenes - I did speak to Arnie and so did the chairman (Paul Lederer) about this person (the Dutchman) and he had some nice things to say. So, yes, it’s a possibility. He is 100 per cent in the mix.”

Whoever the new coach is will be given largesse for make at least five signings, with Bosnar confirming at least two of the current squad could be moving elsewhere in the coming weeks.

“We’re in discussions with some overseas clubs and those transfers will most likely happen in the next 10 days or so," said Bosnar.

Bosnar declined to reveal the players involved though it’s known that defender Gabriel Cleur and midfielder Thomas Beaidling are open to moving on, whilst young attacker Marcus Younis, who came close to joining Millwall during the January transfer window, could be up for grabs.

“We’ll sign youngsters, as we always have in the past, but it will be up to the new coach to pinpoint the more experienced players he wants,” Bosnar said of Wanderers’ incoming player strategy.

“I think we had a bit of an unlucky season with a lot of injuries and a few decisions going against us (under Rudan in 2023-2024),” he added.

“We only just missed the playoffs - the year before we had a fantastic year (before exiting the playoffs against Sydney FC) to bring the club back in the right direction.

“We’re proud that we had nine U-23 players feature in our final game of last season, and have a lot of good kids at the club.

“We have plnety of good people involved on the coaching side like Jason Culina, Corey Gamiero and now Milos Ninkovic. Football is a strange game. After some rain comes the sunshine and hopefully it comes sooner rather than later for us.

“That’s what the supporters deserve. We need to be united, to work together and then anything is possible. I’m confident we’re going to do it. It’s just a matter of when.”
