Luis Suarez was named the man of the match as World Cup hosts Russia suffered their first defeat of the tournament after losing 3-0 to Uruguay, FIFA said via the tournament's official Twitter account on Monday.
The match took place at the Samara Arena on Monday with Suarez giving his side the lead just ten minutes into the game after firing a free-kick into the bottom right corner.
This was the 31-year-old forward’s 52nd international goal and he is Uruguay's all-time leading scorer.
Uruguay's victory means that they will go into the knockout stage as Group A winners and will play the Group B runners-up in their round of 16 match.
