Joeys midfielder Eddie Ince has been offered a deal by Swindon Town’s Australian owner Clem Morfuni, as the plumbing mogul looks to parachute home-grown teenage talent into the League Two club.
The Brisbane Roar prospect recently completed a trial with the Robins, once home to Massimo Luongo, and coach Michael Flynn liked what he saw, offering the youngster a long-term contract.
Morfuni has made no secret of his plans to turn the West Country side into a finishing school for rising Aussies and has even flagged the possibility of setting up a Sydney academy with that goal in mind.
Still to play an A-League game for Brisbane, Ince has yet to finalise his future, and has remained in the UK for a second trial with Brentford B, once the domain of Western Sydney Wanderers’ Lachlan Brook.
Ince was Initially spotted by Bournemouth scouts during a school tour to the UK, and the Premier League club continue to monitor his progress, fully aware that Swindon and Brentford have the first options on a rookie who burst into the scene for Brad Maloney’s U-17s at last June’s Asian Cup in Thailand with appearances against Japan and Saudi Arabia.
He shares Japanese and UK heritage, with his mother from the Land of the Rising Sun and dad from England.
