ADELAIDE UNITED
Coach: Carl Veart
Last season finish: semi-final (fourth on table)
Notable ins: Ben Halloran, Ben Warland, Harry Van Der Saag
Notable outs: Kusini Yengi, Mohamed Toure, Michael Jakobsen
Ben Halloran's return and Craig Goodwin sticking around on a long-term permanent deal are massive boosts. Expect those two to hold the key to Adelaide's fortunes as the Reds attempt to kick on from a semi-final appearance.
BRISBANE ROAR
Coach: Warren Moon
Last season finish: 11th
Notable ins: Charlie Austin, Riku Danzaki, Carlo Armiento
Notable outs: Juan Lescano, Alex Parsons, Luke Ivanovic
Brisbane will want to quickly move on from last year's poor season and their off-field woes. Englishman Austin should provide much-needed firepower and Danzaki's return offers some excitement.
CENTRAL COAST MARINERS
Coach: Nick Montgomery
Last season finish: elimination final (fifth on table)
Notable ins: Danny Vukovic, Samuel Silvera, Kelechi John, Marco Tulio
Notable outs: Oliver Bozanic, Lewis Miller, Kye Rowles, Mark Birighitti, Marco Urena, Matt Simon
The young Mariners excited last season but will want to show they have the maturity to deliver. All eyes will be on wunderkind Garang Kuol - until he departs for Newcastle United in January.
MACARTHUR FC
Coach: Dwight Yorke
Last season finish: seventh
Notable Ins: Daniel Arzani, Jonathan Aspropotamitis, Kearyn Baccus
Notable Outs: Tommy Oar, Adrian Mariappa
New coach Yorke already has one trophy to his name, the Australia Cup, and will hope to get Macarthur back in the top six. Arzani shapes as key to the Bulls' fortunes along with Ulises Davila.
MELBOURNE CITY
Coach: Patrick Kisnorbo
Last season finish: runners-up (first on table)
Notable ins: Valon Berisha, Thomas Lam, Richard van der Venne
Notable outs: Rostyn Griffiths, Carl Jenkinson, Connor Metcalfe
City will be stinging after their grand final loss and keen to re-establish themselves as top dogs. Despite losing Socceroo Connor Metcalfe and stalwart Rostyn Griffiths, they should be bolstered by signings Valon Berisha and Thomas Lam.
MELBOURNE VICTORY
Coach: Tony Popovic
Last season finish: semi-final (second on table)
Notable ins: Luis Nani, Paul Izzo, Tomi Juric, Enrique Lopez Fernandez
Notable outs: Marco Rojas, Robbie Kruse, Jason Davidson
Victory will begin the season with one of the most highly-anticipated league debuts in ALM history when former Manchester United winger Luis Nani faces rivals Sydney. Popovic will be looking to build on last season's semi-final exit.
NEWCASTLE JETS
Coach: Arthur Papas
Last season finish: ninth
Notable ins: Reno Piscopo, Brandon O'Neill, Carl Jenkinson
Notable outs: Daniel Penha, Taylor Regan, Valentino Yuel
There was plenty of love for the style Arthur Papas brought to Newcastle. Now it's time for substance, in the form of a top-six berth. A brilliant signing spree of established players should help.
PERTH GLORY
Coach: Ruben Zadkovich
Last season finish: 12th
Notable ins: Mustafa Amini, Ryan Williams, Stefan Colakovaski, Luke Ivanovic
Notable outs: Daniel Sturridge, Brandon O'Neill, Andy Keogh
After a season when Perth were on the road, smashed by COVID-19, their marquee flopped, their coach was sacked and they collected the wooden spoon, it can surely only be up from here. Zadkovich has his work cut out to turn the Glory around.
SYDNEY FC
Coach: Steve Corica
Last season: eighth
Notable ins: Robert Mak, Diego Caballo, Jack Rodwell, Joe Lolley
Notable outs: Bobo, Milos Ninkovic, Michael Zullo
Corica will be looking to bring Sydney FC back into contention after a rare finals miss. It is the start of a new era, with club great Milos Ninkovic departing for Western Sydney and a plethora of new signings.
WELLINGTON PHOENIX
Coach: Ufuk Talay
Last season: elimination final (sixth on table)
Notable ins: Bozhidar Kraev, Yan Sisse, Oskar Zawada, Kosta Barbarouses, Steven Ugarkovic
Notable outs: Reno Piscopo, Jaushua Sotirio, Gael Sandoval, Gary Hooper, James McGarry
The Phoenix are finally back in Wellington full-time and have a brand-new group of forwards. Talay will hope the fresh inclusions balance out some sizeable losses and are enough to have Wellington contending.
WESTERN SYDNEY WANDERERS
Coach: Marko Rudan
Last season finish: 10th
Notable ins: Oliver Bozanic, Milos Ninkovic, Brandon Borello, Lawrence Thomas, Romain Amalfitano
Notable outs: Steven Ugarkovic, Tomer Hemed, Bernie Ibini-Isei, Dimitri Petratos, Jack Rodwell
The Wanderers haven't made the finals since 2017/18 but given Rudan's massive playing list reshuffle, they will expect a top-six return. Winger Ramy Najjarine is one of few players retained in the rebuild and is one to watch.
WESTERN UNITED
Coach: John Aloisi
Last season finish: champions (third on table)
Notable ins: James Troisi, Jacob Tratt
Notable outs: Rene Krhin, Jerry Skotadis, Ivan Vujica
The reigning champions have kept most of their squad and added veteran playmaker James Troisi to their attacking mix. Aloisi will have his sights set on adding a maiden premiership to last season's breakthrough championship.
