Bert van Marwijk said on Tuesday he was stepping down as a head coach after Australia lost 2-0 in their final World Cup group-stage game.
Australia needed to win their final Group C game to have a chance of reaching the knockout stage.
"For my personal future, I don't know. I loved it to work with the Australian [squad] and the players but I'm also very happy that I'm free again," Van Marwijk told journalists.
