Toure, 18, almost joined Nick Montgomery’s Hibernian during the January transfer window but Reds bosses refused to play ball with the Scottish Premiership club, insisting he remain in situ for the remainder of the A-League season and failing to agree a transfer fee.

Hibs turned their attention to other targets, subsequently paving a way for Toure - with nine appearances and a single goal in 189 minutes of A-League football this season - to switch his gaze to France, already the adopted home of older brothers Mohamed (loaned from Reims to Paris FC this season) and Al Hassan (Ligue 2 AC Ajaccio).

The club in question, at the wrong end of the Ligue 1 ladder, have tabled a four-year contract to the young gun, and will pay the Reds a nominal fee for one of their most promising talents.

The deal is expected to be finalised imminently.

Considered by many judges to be the most naturally gifted of the Toure siblings, Musa made his debut back in 2022, with the unnamed French side providing the opportunity to put that potential to the ultimate test.
