Baccus, who is in his second season with the Bulls, is highly rated by the Sydney club and it’s likely they will make him a counter offer to remain at Campbelltown Stadium.

However, it’s the length of the contract which appears to be the sticking point with Roar chiefs willing to hand the 32-year-old the security of a two-season deal, and Macarthur, at this point, only willing to go to 12 months.

South African-born Baccus, who has also had spells with Melbourne City and Western Sydney Wanderers, has made 15 appearances this season but has only featured once in February for the fourth-placed Bulls amid the ongoing uncertainty surrounding his future.

Bulls CEO Sam Krslovic is aware of Brisbane’s interest and will open contract negotiations imminently with Baccus' current deal due to expire in June.

“We intend offering Kearyn a new contract and will sit down and talk in the next couple of weeks,” he told FTBL.

“I’m aware of Brisbane’s interest - the fact is we rate Kearyn highly and want him to stay at the club.”

Baccus joined the Bulls from South African outfit Kaizer Chiefs in mid-2022 and has racked up 38 A-League appearances to date for Mile Sterjovski’s side.
