Ruben Zadkovich’s Brisbane Roar rebuild is underway, with the recently appointed coach launching a raid on Adelaide United's ranks, headlined by the capture of striker Ben Halloran.
Defender Harry Van Der Saag has already been unveiled, with Zadkovich also seeking to lure Ben Warland and free-scoring Reds striker Hiroshi Ibusuki.
Sydney FC’s Joeys left back Richie Nkomo also looks to be Roar bound, with ex-Adelaide striker Nikola Mileusnic set to depart Brisbane for a second coming at Hindmarsh Stadium where he previously spent five seasons.
Halloran’s return to his Queensland roots is a significant move by Zadkovich, with the now 31 year old spending a season with the Roar back in 2012 after the implosion of Gold Coast United.
Though he only managed four goals in 22 appearances for a struggling Reds side this season, Halloran - who has also traversed Germany, Japan and South Korea during his career - has been long been considered one of the A-League’s smartest and most astute attackers, and Zadkovich will look to leverage is experience within a young squad.
Former Sydney FC defender Warland, 27, made 33 appearances for the Reds across two seasons in his second spell for the club, whilst much travelled Japanese forward Ibusuki, 33, netted an impressive 15 goals in 26 games in his third season with Reds and would be a key signing if Zadkovich can get a deal over the line.
Two of his goals during the season came in a 4-3 victpry over Brisbane with Zadkochic at the helm at the Roar.
Going the other way is Mileusnic, never a prolific scorer, but normally a reliable foil in the front third for his strike partner.
He made 62 A-League appearances in his three years with Brisbane after a short spell with Danish side Randers.
