As the Futsalroos prepare for the World Cup with a farewell function in Sydney today (Fri), Rogic revealed the recent approach.

The former Nike Chance winner said he’d have loved to have represented Australia at the World Cup but pledged his support to his club Central Coast and his burgeoning career in the A-League.

“With everything going on in my football career right now, it’s not possible. But the coach [Steven Knight] approached me a couple of times before the World Cup was coming up, but he understands as well with my commitments in football it’s not realistically possible,” he told FourFourTwo Australia magazine.

At the World Cup in Thailand, Australia have been drawn against Mexico, Italy and Argentina in the group stages.

“It’s disappointing but at the same time it doesn’t bother me because I have a lot on my plate with my club Central Coast Mariners. All my focus is there right now," said Rogic at Nike’s announcement of an 11-year partnership with FFA earlier this week.

Rogic, who played for the Futsalroos earlier in his career, confirmed that Futsal was vital to his development.

“I think it plays a massive role. For me it helped my technique and skills massively.

“I don’t think I’d be the player I am today [if not for Futsal].

"How different who knows but it’s definitely played a massive role and it’s something that I hold close to my heart. I always follow the national team [Futsalroos] and they’ve got the World Cup in November,” he said.

“I’ll be following them and I still talk to a lot of the guys in the team. And it’s great that the games are going to be televised in Australia which is good for not just Futsal but Football in Australia to expose it a little more.

“It’s in my eyes a great sport and something that everyone involved in football should have a look at.”

Before then, he's set to play in the F3 derby when Central Coast face Newcastle away this Saturday.
